Description
A decadent mashup of a classic bacon cheeseburger and grilled cheese sandwich, loaded with juicy ground beef, crispy bacon, melted cheddar, and gooey American cheese between buttery toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked crispy
- 8 slices sandwich bread (Texas toast or sourdough recommended)
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions (optional)
- Pickles or ketchup/mustard (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, layer cheddar cheese, ground beef, bacon, and American cheese. Add caramelized onions if using.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Slice in half and serve hot with pickles, ketchup, or mustard if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, spread a thin layer of burger sauce or mayo inside the sandwich before grilling.
- Use brioche bread for a softer, richer texture.
- Press sandwiches gently with a spatula while cooking for even toasting.
