Description

Warm, tender baked apples filled with tangy feta, sweet honey, and tart cranberries for a beautifully balanced fall or holiday dessert or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the apples and use a spoon or corer to hollow out the centers, removing seeds and creating a cavity.
  3. In a bowl, mix feta, cranberries, nuts (if using), cinnamon, nutmeg, and a small pinch of salt.
  4. Stuff each apple with the filling mixture.
  5. Drizzle the apples with honey and brush the tops with melted butter.
  6. Place apples in a baking dish with 1/4 cup water at the bottom to prevent scorching.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
  8. Drizzle with extra honey before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples to prevent them from collapsing while baking.
  • Replace feta with goat cheese for a creamier texture.
  • Add orange zest to the filling for a bright citrus note.
  • Tastes delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
