Description
Warm, tender baked apples filled with tangy feta, sweet honey, and tart cranberries for a beautifully balanced fall or holiday dessert or side dish.
Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/3 cup dried cranberries
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the apples and use a spoon or corer to hollow out the centers, removing seeds and creating a cavity.
- In a bowl, mix feta, cranberries, nuts (if using), cinnamon, nutmeg, and a small pinch of salt.
- Stuff each apple with the filling mixture.
- Drizzle the apples with honey and brush the tops with melted butter.
- Place apples in a baking dish with 1/4 cup water at the bottom to prevent scorching.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
- Drizzle with extra honey before serving.
Notes
- Use firm apples to prevent them from collapsing while baking.
- Replace feta with goat cheese for a creamier texture.
- Add orange zest to the filling for a bright citrus note.
- Tastes delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
