Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp lemon juice (for glaze)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry mixture to wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  7. Cool completely before glazing.
  8. For the glaze: whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth. Spread evenly over cooled brownies.
  9. Cut into squares and serve.
