Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 2 cups uncooked mafalda or broken lasagna noodles
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in marinara sauce and water or broth. Add uncooked pasta and stir well to coat.
- Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in ricotta cheese until creamy.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Cover for 2–3 minutes or until the cheese melts.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the beef.
- For extra veggies, add chopped spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
- Adjust sauce consistency by adding a splash of water if it thickens too much.
- Serve with garlic bread or a side salad for a complete meal.
