A thick, hearty deep-dish pizza loaded with mozzarella, marinara, pepperoni, sausage, and bacon for the ultimate cheesy meat lovers’ feast.
Ingredients
-
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Pizza Fillings:
- 1 1/2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 20 slices pepperoni
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon pieces
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp melted butter (for crust brushing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until dough forms, then knead 5–6 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 45–60 minutes or until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a deep-dish pan or cast-iron skillet.
- Press dough into the pan, pushing it up the sides to form a tall crust.
- Layer 1 cup mozzarella on the bottom to prevent sogginess.
- Add sausage, pepperoni, and bacon evenly.
- Spread marinara sauce over the meat layer.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, then sprinkle Italian seasoning.
- Bake 22–28 minutes, until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Brush crust edges with melted butter after baking.
- Cool 5 minutes before slicing to help it set.
Notes
- Chilling the dough for 20 minutes helps make pressing into the pan easier.
- Add veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms if desired.
- Use pre-cooked meats only to avoid moisture in the crust.
- A heavy cast-iron skillet gives the crispiest deep-dish bottom.
