Description
A rich, festive holiday drink blending classic eggnog with creamy chocolate for a decadent Christmas Eve treat.
Ingredients
- 4 cups eggnog
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup sugar (optional, to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- Whipped cream for topping
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish
- 1/2 to 1 cup rum or bourbon (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine eggnog, milk, and heavy cream.
- Add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and nutmeg. Add alcohol if using.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
- Use dark chocolate for a richer, less sweet version.
- For a kid-friendly recipe, omit the alcohol entirely.
