Description

A rich, festive holiday drink blending classic eggnog with creamy chocolate for a decadent Christmas Eve treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups eggnog
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional, to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish
  • 1/2 to 1 cup rum or bourbon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine eggnog, milk, and heavy cream.
  2. Add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and nutmeg. Add alcohol if using.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream.
  6. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer, less sweet version.
  • For a kid-friendly recipe, omit the alcohol entirely.
  • Serve warm for a cozy holiday drink or chilled for a dessert-style treat.
