Description

These Easy Apple Brownies are soft, moist, and packed with fresh apple flavor and warm fall spices. A simple one-bowl recipe that combines the texture of a blondie with the cozy taste of apple pie — perfect for autumn baking!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined — do not overmix.
  6. Fold in diced apples and nuts (if using).
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar or caramel drizzle.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor balance.
  • For extra moisture, add 2 tbsp of applesauce to the batter.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
