Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined — do not overmix.
- Fold in diced apples and nuts (if using).
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
