A simple and flavorful pasta dish made with Italian chicken sausage, tender bow tie pasta, and a creamy tomato-herb sauce for an easy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz bow tie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 lb Italian chicken sausage, sliced or crumbled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups fresh spinach (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish


Instructions

  1. Cook bow tie pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add Italian chicken sausage and cook until browned. Remove if needed to drain excess grease.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet, sautéing until softened.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3–4 minutes.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Add spinach (if using) and cook until wilted.
  9. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and sausage until evenly coated.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Use spicy chicken sausage if you prefer extra heat.
  • Add mushrooms or bell peppers for more veggies.
