Tender bite-sized beef cubes seared in rich garlic butter and served over smooth, creamy mashed potatoes for a comforting and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef sirloin, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk (warm)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for mashed potatoes)

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain well.
  2. Mash potatoes with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy. Season lightly with salt and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Season beef cubes with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  5. Sear beef in the hot skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  6. Lower heat and add butter to the skillet.
  7. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  8. Return beef to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in garlic butter.
  9. Serve beef bites over creamy mashed potatoes and garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan to achieve a good sear on the beef.
  • Use Yukon Gold potatoes for extra creamy mashed potatoes.
  • Add a splash of cream for richer mashed potatoes if desired.
