Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing the baking dish)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess grease.
- Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Layer half of the potatoes in the prepared dish. Spread half of the soup mixture on top, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, soup mixture, beef, and cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
