Description
Tender and juicy steak seared to perfection and smothered in a rich garlic butter sauce for a restaurant-quality meal made at home.
Ingredients
- 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or rosemary)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat until hot.
- Add steaks and sear for 3–4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness.
- Reduce heat to medium, add butter, garlic, and thyme to the skillet.
- Baste the steaks by spooning the melted garlic butter over them for 1–2 minutes.
- Remove steaks from skillet and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
- Let steaks rest before slicing to keep juices locked in.
- Pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or garlic bread.
