Description

Tender and juicy steak seared to perfection and smothered in a rich garlic butter sauce for a restaurant-quality meal made at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or rosemary)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat until hot.
  3. Add steaks and sear for 3–4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, add butter, garlic, and thyme to the skillet.
  5. Baste the steaks by spooning the melted garlic butter over them for 1–2 minutes.
  6. Remove steaks from skillet and let rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Slice, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
  • Let steaks rest before slicing to keep juices locked in.
  • Pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or garlic bread.
