Description
Mushroom & Cheese Toast is a quick and comforting dish made with sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese, and toasted bread. It works perfectly as a light meal, snack, or breakfast option with rich, savory flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 200 g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 5–6 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
- Add garlic, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs. Sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Toast the bread slices lightly on both sides.
- Spoon the mushroom mixture evenly over each toast slice.
- Top generously with shredded cheese.
- Place under a broiler or in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 3–5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove and serve hot.
Notes
- You can add sliced onions or spinach for extra flavor.
- Use whole wheat or sourdough bread for a healthier option.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
