Description

Mushroom & Cheese Toast is a quick and comforting dish made with sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese, and toasted bread. It works perfectly as a light meal, snack, or breakfast option with rich, savory flavors.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 200 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 5–6 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add garlic, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs. Sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Toast the bread slices lightly on both sides.
  5. Spoon the mushroom mixture evenly over each toast slice.
  6. Top generously with shredded cheese.
  7. Place under a broiler or in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 3–5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove and serve hot.
