Description
Tender, fall-off-the-bone barbecue ribs cooked low and slow in a crockpot, then finished with smoky BBQ sauce for the perfect balance of flavor and texture.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds pork baby back ribs
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus more for serving)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and cut into 3–4 sections to fit into the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
- Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the ribs.
- Place the ribs in the slow cooker, standing them upright along the edges if necessary.
- In another bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until ribs are tender.
- Preheat the oven broiler. Carefully transfer ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil.
- Brush ribs with additional barbecue sauce and broil for 3–5 minutes, until caramelized and slightly charred.
- Serve hot with extra sauce on the side.
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the sauce.
- You can substitute baby back ribs with spare ribs, adjusting cook time as needed.
- Ribs can be finished on the grill instead of the broiler for added char.
