Description

A classic comfort meal featuring simple spaghetti tossed in a savory tomato sauce, served alongside crispy homemade garlic bread for a satisfying and family-friendly dish.


Ingredients

  • 300 g spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 0.75 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 baguette or loaf of French bread
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced (for garlic bread)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley


Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Simmer sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Toss cooked spaghetti with the sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  9. Mix softened butter, garlic, and parsley in a small bowl.
  10. Slice bread in half lengthwise and spread garlic butter evenly.
  11. Bake garlic bread for 10–12 minutes until golden and crisp.
  12. Serve spaghetti hot with garlic bread on the side and sprinkle with Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
  • You can use whole wheat spaghetti for extra fiber.
  • Garlic bread can be toasted in an air fryer or skillet.
