Description

Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli is a quick and healthy Asian-inspired dish featuring tender shrimp and crisp broccoli tossed in a savory garlic soy sauce. It’s light, flavorful, and ready in under 20 minutes — perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, chicken broth, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to the pan. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  6. Return shrimp to the pan and toss until coated and heated through.
  7. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate shrimp in 1 tsp soy sauce and cornstarch for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Use tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free version.
  • Can substitute shrimp with chicken or tofu for variation.
