Description
Stuffed Seafood Bread Bowl is a comforting and indulgent dish featuring a crusty bread bowl filled with a creamy seafood mixture of shrimp and crab, baked until warm and bubbly.
Ingredients
- 1 large round sourdough bread loaf
- 8 oz (225 g) shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
- 8 oz (225 g) lump crab meat
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving a thick shell. Reserve bread pieces.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
- Add chopped shrimp and cook until pink, about 2–3 minutes.
- Lower heat and stir in cream cheese and heavy cream until smooth.
- Fold in crab meat, mozzarella, Parmesan, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat and stir in parsley.
- Spoon seafood mixture into the hollowed bread bowl.
- Place bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly.
- Serve warm with reserved bread pieces for dipping.
Notes
- Use fresh or pasteurized crab meat.
- Do not overcook shrimp before baking.
- Bread bowl can be wrapped in foil if browning too fast.
- Can be served as a shared appetizer or light main dish.
