Description

Taco Pie is a flavorful layered dish combining seasoned ground beef, cheese, and tortillas (or crescent dough) baked into a hearty, cheesy pie perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 (8 oz) can crescent roll dough or 2 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooking spray


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  4. If using crescent dough, press into the bottom of the pie dish to form a crust. If using tortillas, layer them on the bottom and slightly up the sides.
  5. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the crust.
  6. Top with salsa, then spread sour cream over the beef layer.
  7. Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses evenly on top.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with diced tomato, black olives, and green onions.

  • Serve with a side of guacamole and tortilla chips for a complete meal.
