Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 2 lbs Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for potatoes)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook for 15–18 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain potatoes and return to the pot. Add butter, milk, and heavy cream. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
- Pat steak cubes dry with paper towels and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak bites in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Work in batches if needed. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium, add butter to the same skillet, and melt. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return beef to the skillet and toss in the garlic butter until coated.
- Serve steak bites over creamy mashed potatoes and spoon extra garlic butter sauce over the top.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use room temperature steak for even cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the skillet to achieve a perfect sear.
- For a touch of acidity, drizzle with a bit of lemon juice or balsamic glaze before serving.
