Description
Decadent homemade cinnamon rolls filled with rich cocoa, layered with chocolate chips, and topped with a creamy chocolate glaze for the ultimate triple chocolate treat.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, and white chocolate mix)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for glaze)
- 3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until combined.
- Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.
- Roll up tightly into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour heavy cream over the risen rolls before baking.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and baked through.
- Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- For extra richness, use dark chocolate chips in addition to milk and white.
- Make ahead by preparing the rolls the night before and refrigerating until ready to bake.
- Top with extra shaved chocolate for presentation.
