Description

Decadent homemade cinnamon rolls filled with rich cocoa, layered with chocolate chips, and topped with a creamy chocolate glaze for the ultimate triple chocolate treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, and white chocolate mix)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for glaze)
  • 3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.
  7. Roll up tightly into a log and cut into 12 rolls.
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30–40 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour heavy cream over the risen rolls before baking.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and baked through.
  11. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  12. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • For extra richness, use dark chocolate chips in addition to milk and white.
  • Make ahead by preparing the rolls the night before and refrigerating until ready to bake.
  • Top with extra shaved chocolate for presentation.
