Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1 medium carrot, julienned
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, sliced
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Toss the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, beef broth, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and black pepper. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the wok.
- Add the broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, onion, and snap peas. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until crisp-tender.
- Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the wok.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and toss to coat everything evenly.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is fully cooked.
- Stir in the sliced green onions.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
