Description
Berry Cream Cheese Danish Bites are flaky, bite-sized pastries filled with sweetened cream cheese and mixed berries, then baked until golden and finished with a light vanilla glaze.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries), chopped if large
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Toss berries with cornstarch in a separate bowl.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into 16 equal squares.
- Place pastry squares on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon a small amount of cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
- Top with a few berries.
- Fold the corners slightly toward the center, leaving the filling visible.
- Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, then drizzle over the pastries.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold for the flakiest texture.
- Fresh or frozen berries can be used; thaw and drain frozen berries first.
- Do not overfill the pastries to prevent leaking.
- These are best enjoyed the day they are baked.
- Add lemon zest to the cream cheese filling for extra brightness.
