Description

Burrata Chicken Piccata Skillet is a rich Italian-inspired one-pan dinner featuring golden pan-seared chicken breasts simmered in a bright lemon caper butter sauce and finished with creamy burrata cheese. This elegant yet easy meal is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about lbs), pounded to even thickness
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
  • 2 (4 oz) burrata balls
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon slices, for garnish
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Lightly dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
  6. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  8. Stir in the capers and simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly reduced.
  9. Stir in the heavy cream if using and simmer for 2 minutes.
  10. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  11. Tear the burrata over the chicken and allow it to soften from the residual heat for 1-2 minutes.
  12. Garnish with parsley, lemon slices, and fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • Fresh lemon juice provides the brightest flavor.
  • Pat the chicken dry before seasoning for better browning.
  • Heavy cream is optional but creates a richer, silkier sauce.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
