Description
Burrata Chicken Piccata Skillet is a rich Italian-inspired one-pan dinner featuring golden pan-seared chicken breasts simmered in a bright lemon caper butter sauce and finished with creamy burrata cheese. This elegant yet easy meal is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1½ lbs), pounded to even thickness
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
- 2 (4 oz) burrata balls
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Lightly dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
- Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- Stir in the capers and simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Stir in the heavy cream if using and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Tear the burrata over the chicken and allow it to soften from the residual heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley, lemon slices, and fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- Fresh lemon juice provides the brightest flavor.
- Pat the chicken dry before seasoning for better browning.
- Heavy cream is optional but creates a richer, silkier sauce.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
