This quick one-pan meal is packed with savory Italian-inspired flavors and pairs perfectly with pasta, mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs turkey breast cutlets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small shallot, finely diced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season the turkey cutlets with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the turkey cutlets for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
- Add the shallot and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and basil, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Add the lemon juice and stir to combine.
- Return the turkey cutlets to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Freshly grated Parmesan melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
- Fresh basil provides the best flavor, but dried basil works well when needed.
- Add baby spinach or sliced mushrooms for extra vegetables.
- Serve with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
