Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Season steak bites with half of the salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add steak and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same skillet.
- Add onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add rice and cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, and remaining salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until creamy.
- Return steak to the skillet and gently combine with the rice.
- Cook for 2 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish with parsley and green onions before serving.
Notes
- Sirloin, ribeye, or New York strip steak work well in this recipe.
- Freshly grated Parmesan melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
- Do not overcook the steak during the initial sear.
- Mushrooms or spinach can be added for extra flavor and nutrition.
