Description

Creamy Garlic Shrimp is a quick and elegant one-pan seafood dish featuring tender shrimp simmered in a rich garlic Parmesan cream sauce with butter, herbs, and a touch of lemon. Ready in just 25 minutes, this restaurant-quality meal is perfect served over pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or with crusty bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry and season with paprika, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes per side until just pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
  5. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  8. Whisk in the Parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
  9. Stir in the Dijon mustard and lemon juice, if using.
  10. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  11. Cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley and basil before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the shrimp or they will become rubbery.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts much more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
  • Serve over fettuccine, linguine, rice, mashed potatoes, or with toasted garlic bread.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
