This restaurant-quality dinner balances creamy, spicy, and citrusy flavors for an unforgettable weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs halal sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. Season the steak with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
  6. Add the onion and jalapeños and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  7. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  8. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  10. Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  11. Mix in the lime juice and lime zest.
  12. Add the cooked pasta and toss until evenly coated, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
  13. Return the steak to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through.
  14. Garnish with cilantro, parsley, and serve with fresh lime wedges.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the steak to keep it tender and juicy.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan creates the smoothest cream sauce.
  • Adjust the number of jalapeños to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or roasted corn for extra flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
