Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs halal sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 12 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
- Season the steak with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
- Add the onion and jalapeños and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Mix in the lime juice and lime zest.
- Add the cooked pasta and toss until evenly coated, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
- Return the steak to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish with cilantro, parsley, and serve with fresh lime wedges.
Notes
- Do not overcook the steak to keep it tender and juicy.
- Freshly grated Parmesan creates the smoothest cream sauce.
- Adjust the number of jalapeños to suit your preferred spice level.
- Add sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or roasted corn for extra flavor and texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
