Description

Creamy Mushroom Steak Skillet is a rich one-pan dinner featuring tender steak bites seared to perfection and simmered in a creamy garlic mushroom sauce. This comforting meal delivers steakhouse flavor with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 16 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Season steak bites with half of the salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add steak and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same skillet.
  5. Add mushrooms and shallot and cook for 6-8 minutes until mushrooms are golden brown.
  6. Stir in garlic and thyme and cook for 30 seconds.
  7. Add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the pan.
  8. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly reduced.
  9. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Dijon mustard, and remaining salt and pepper.
  10. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  11. Return steak to the skillet and simmer for 2 minutes until heated through.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ribeye or New York strip steak can be used instead of sirloin.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet when searing the steak.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan creates the smoothest sauce.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
