Description

Creamy Shallot Parmesan Shrimp is a quick and elegant one-pan seafood dish featuring tender shrimp simmered in a rich garlic, shallot, and Parmesan cream sauce. This restaurant-quality recipe comes together in under 30 minutes and is perfect served over pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 medium shallots, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook shrimp for 1-2 minutes per side until just pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
  5. Add the shallots and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  6. Stir in the garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for 30 seconds.
  7. Pour in the broth, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  8. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  9. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth.
  10. Add the lemon juice and stir to combine.
  11. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  12. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are heated through.
  13. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the shrimp or they may become rubbery.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan creates the smoothest sauce.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
  • Serve over fettuccine, angel hair pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 2 days.
